If this hasn’t become obvious yet, relying solely on platforms is a HUGE business risk. You’re essentially building your house on rented land.
Email followers are owned audiences - you control what and when to communicate with them.
Here’s how you should go about collecting and leveraging your email list to become your most valuable sales channel.
SaaS Marketing 101:
- Create a website
- People can’t find you if you don’t have a digital presence. Your first website should be a landing page with a clear CTA - you can always add more to this as you go.
- Use free templates to get started. No need to recreate the wheel when you should be prioritizing speed (good copy and visuals should get the right people interested).
- Create a lead magnet
- Build something of value that your audience will gladly exchange their email for (this cheat sheet is an example of a lead magnet).
- Either feature this as a pop up on your website, or include it as your CTA on your landing page. If you use it as a CTA, communicate what a person gets in exchange for their email (”500 free resources - all we need is an email so we can share it”)
- Pick a marketing platform
- This will help you organize your list and send the right information to the right people at the right time.
- Leverage automations to move collected emails from the previous step into your marketing platform so they can be entered into sequences.
